The process and components of effective verbal and nonverbal communication among criminal justice professionals is found within the industrys chain of command, and organizational tool that establishes hierarchy and the communication factor inherent to it. The need for organization, unity and consistency is paramount to any business or industry when the objective is to stave off chaos; without maintaining a chain of command throughout the structural unit of authority, there can be no sense of stability where people are arbitrarily applying their own interpretation. Nowhere is this more prevalent than in law enforcement, inasmuch as the fundamental aspect of the chain of command is to establish structure, maintain communication and facilitate the critical element of cohesion inherent to this particular line of work.
