of controversy. In general, the liberals in the United States for example suggest that the government should pick up the slack and help those who have not-for whatever reason- helped themselves. The idea includes everything from dental care to health insurance to assistance for housing and food stamps. Some believe that people are entitled to a stipend or some help while they make their way through a world of plenty. The conservative on the other hand sees people as being responsible for his or her own well-being. If they do not have a job, or a home, that is their own fault. And for those in desperate circumstances, there are churches and private organizations willing to lend a hand. The private sector will step in, when the government does not. The debate is insidious as it negates the idea that both public and private sector can work together. At the same time, if one is given the choice of whether or not private or public funding is best, much has to do with the scope of the area needing funding. When it is a poor family, the private sector can perhaps help out. It can collect money, provide staples for a family and also offer much needed psychological support and advice. Yet, when it is a larger group, things get a bit more complex. When the people in need is a segment of the populous, there are larger money amounts required and poor people, as a group, can hurt communities if they are not taken care of.
