Introduction The question of whether fetuses that have
yet been born should have personal rights is tied into how we as a society define personhood. It is also tied into the controversy surrounding issues such as abortion,
the use of fetal tissue in treating certain diseases, stem cell research, and dual murder convictions for those convicted of killing pregnant women. A review of the current law,
regulation, and policies regarding fetuses allows us to come to the quick conclusion that the unborn do indeed have personal rights. They question of whether the average person believes
that they should have individual rights, however, is somewhat more difficult to match with a definitive answer. The answer, it seems, varies according to the individual.
