and a massively poor population; women are making strides but injustice and problems based on gender are rampant; and the educational system is not doing a good job educating the
people. This paper explores these three social issues in more detail. Discussion Income inequality: Almost all nations have income inequity, in which a wealthy elite has so much money they
never have to worry about anything, and a very poor population segment has to scrape just to stay alive. In between are various other social classes, middle class, upper middle,
lower class and so on. In addition, in most countries the gap between the wealthy and the poor is not extremely wide, but in Brazil, its huge. That presents problems.
The World Bank notes that the quality of life of a people depends to a great extent on how income is distributed, and compares Brazil with Hungary. In both countries,
the GNP levels are comparable, "but the incidence of poverty in Brazil is much higher," an anomaly which can be explained by the fact that in Hungary, "the richest 20
percent (quintile) of the population receives about 4 times more than the poorest quintile, while in Brazil the richest quintile receives more than 30 times more than the poorest quintile"
(Income inequality). Another way of looking at this is to look at the graph provided by the World Bank. It shows that the richest 20% of the population receives 67.5%
