Clearly, the loss of ethical fortitude within Christianitys representative has become a significant issue in relation to the absence of authentic Christian thinking. One might infer from Harry Blamires, author of The Christian Mind : How Should A Christian Think, that not only does the congregation look up to and respect religious leaders, but it also takes example from their actions. This is not unlike the same relationship between children and parents, where the actions set forth by the parents are interpreted as socially acceptable and worthy of emulation. However, if a parent provides mixed signals with respect to acceptable moral and ethical behavior, what is the child to think? Does this immorality mean he or she is not good at parenting? And who is to determine just what is immoral and what is not? These are questions that cannot go unanswered when assessing the overall importance of private morality and pastoral leadership.
