in 1967, Ernesto "Che" Guevaras remains were finally found in a secret mass grave thirty years later and returned to Cuba for internment in the city of Santa Clara. U.S.
News & World Report (10/27/97) reported that hundreds of thousands of people watched the motorcade carrying the remains of the revolutionary through Havana. It is important that the student
researching the life, times and accomplishments of Ernesto "Che" Guevara understand what an impact he had on the Cuban people and continues to have, even more than thirty years after
his death. The student studying the life and times of Guevara should be well-aware of the revolutionarys romantic and heroic appeal. According
to Brennan (1998), even Ernesto Guevaras nickname "Che" has its revolutionary and social significance. "In the Guaran language, the word means: "Hey you." One of Guevaras mannerisms was to constantly
use the word "che" in conversation with his friends and with those who he hoped to influence toward his way of thinking. It was so characteristic of his speech
and attitudes that his companions in exile in Guatemala pinned this name on him" (pp.18). Despite the aristocratic world he was raised in in Argentina and his education as
a doctor, he was, in nearly every sense of the word, a true "populist." The earthly remains of the revolutions heroic martyr were
brought home to his spiritual, if not literal, birthplace in 1997. Regardless of what one believes about life after death, it is appropriate that Guevara was ultimately buried in the
