According to Robin Winks, editor of A History of Civilization, the global society was ready for a tremendous change in direction following the turmoil of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The social and political influence discoveries of the scientific revolution had upon the various European countries was no different than what was experienced throughout the rest of the world.
