can be examined to determine whether or not the opening of the theme park was wise. It is certainly true that Disneyland Paris has faced more problems than any of
the other Disney parks which have been opened and is likely to face challenges in the future. It is only by looking back and assessing past decisions and considering the
current decision the strategies for the future may be developed. The initial decision to open a theme park appears to be sound. There are many other theme parks within Europe
is a highly successful, some have been opened before Disneyland Paris, and some after. The strong brand image and consumer demand indicated great potential. But in looking at the way
that the location was chosen and the subsequent management of the development a number of problems have arisen indicating a lack of wisdom in the original decision and a lack
of sensitivity and understanding in the later developments. Recent strategies have started to overcome some of these issues but the problems are still present.
When Disney announced the building of the new theme park in Europe a total 110 cities all vied for the opportunity to host a Disney theme park (Bakos, 1991).
