The fundamental aspect of serving in the restaurant industry is to provide the customer with a pleasant dining experience by being personable, efficient, organized and available. Sometimes, however, even when all of these requirements - and more - are successfully and consistently met, there are people who still find things to complain about even when there is nothing truly wrong. This type of customer sets the mood early on for the dining experience that is about to ensue, inasmuch as they arrive to the restaurant already expecting things to go wrong; when they do not, the complainer actively seeks out irrelevant problems that serve to put the food server on the defensive. Nothing pleases this type of customer, because he or she does not want to be happy. It is obvious the complainer behaves like this in other situations apart from being served in a restaurant; indeed, it is clear this type of customer is generally bitter toward and angry at the entire world. It is no surprise, then, that the complainer goes to even greater lengths to be dissatisfied in direct relation to how busy the restaurant is at any given meal, with breakfast being the absolute worst time for dealing with this person. The more the food server hustles to meet the often unreasonable requests, the more this type of customer becomes agitated at the perceived incompetence of the server. As such, the complainer takes up a lot of the servers time, but far less than that of the idler, whose main objective is to put the server to work as his private fetching servant.
