is apparently too much for some. This paper considers five different questions about crime and sports, either directly or indirectly. Discussion The first question considers the O.J. Simpson case. Simpson was accused of murdering his estranged wife and another person, Ron Goldman; his arrest and subsequent trial became a media circus and the most expensive trial in California history (Jones, 2009). The verdict was for acquittal, and it sparked a backlash that set race relations in America back decades (Jones, 2009). Whites in general felt that Simpson was guilty and got off because of his money, celebrity, and the fact that the "system" was afraid to convict him because he was black (Jones, 2009). Blacks saw his acquittal as a victory over a system that is skewed against them; in general they believed he was innocent. The trutv web site has over 20 pages of information about the trial, and it seems that forensic evidence, including blood stains, cloth fibers and DNA, suggest that Simpson was at the crime scene. Since he never testified, the prosecution concluded that he was present but they were unable to make the final link: that being there meant he committed the crime. Its possible to argue it either way; the most sensible conclusion has to be that since he was tried by a jury which acquitted him, and since they sat through the whole trial and were able to hear the witnesses and examine the evidence, it serves no purpose to second guess the outcome. In other words, the most logical conclusion is that there is no conclusion; evidence is compelling both ways and Simpsons guilt is a matter now of personal opinion.
