This is a 5 page paper comparing three Microsoft operating systems: Windows XP Professional, Windows 2000 Professional and Windows 98 SE (Second Edition). A comparison of three Microsoft operating systems, Windows XP Professional, Windows 2000 Professional and Windows 98 SE (Second Edition) is best done through a comparison of firstly their system requirements which are the basics needed in order to run the system and secondly the features of the systems. The systems are based on the evolution of the Windows packages in which Windows 98 was originally an upgrade from Windows 95; Windows 2000 and ME (Millennium) was further an upgrade from Windows 98 and Windows NT; and lastly, Windows XP is still again above Windows 2000 but incorporating all of the top features of those operating systems which preceded it in addition to more comprehensive features regarding reliability, remote access and network administration among others. Not surprisingly then, each system higher within the evolution of the Windows family consists of considerably more features but also considerably higher system requirements in order to run the operating system. Professional versions also include more features which are dedicated to network capabilities and business applications and therefore the requirements and features are considerably more so than those of any Home versions of the product.
