different due to the language and the religion that is a part of each environment, the two nations share something in common. That is, each in its own right, secures a place in history. Ancient Egypt and Ancient Greece are two concepts that are not only taught in schools, but they are viewed as common knowledge to people throughout the world. This is a legacy that many countries do not have. Both Egypt and Greece have a rich history. Several years ago, comedian Steve Martin did his Walk Like an Egyptian song, and in fact, people can mock and praise these two cultures that are quite important to todays inquiry into the past. Many remember the toga parties of the eighties as well. School curricula include a great deal about these two very important regions to the development of civilizations. In fact, people are beginning to examine different cultures and so it is good to compare and contrast these two countries that are unique in their own right. Many are familiar with the legends and stories to come from Ancient Greece. This to some extent provides much about a culture that still exists. Yet, culture is usually about more than history. A problem with perception is simply that there is no Greek culture to speak about that had occurred since the classical period (Romano, 2004). Choices do boil down to writings about Athens and the Olympics themselves (2004). Indeed, Greece is equated with a rich history that references democracy, the Olympic games and a large and important city.
