single man (1939). It was the first sign that the triumph of parliamentarism was not real (1939). The people would not effectively get what they were promised. One gets
a sense that with inflammatory rhetoric and a sense of purpose, the people were willing to fight longer and harder than they had to in 1905. Also, as revolutions are
concerned, the Russian Revolution was a "rather bloodless one" ("A Russian," 2001. p.PG). By 1917, the autocracy had few supporters who would be willing to risk their lives in order
to preserve it (2001). In other words, it was not hard to win. Also, there was ardent support for revolution. The St. Petersburg intelligentsia included former Marxists turned
idealists Berdiaev and Bulgakov all the way to Marxists such as Gorky and Lunacharsky (Rosenthal & Bohachevsky-Chomiak, 1990). Although communism is frowned upon today, it was then thought to be
a solution to the social ills that were present at the time. And while Marxism was discussed, the truth is that the communism implemented in Russia was not really what
Marx had written about at all. In part, this is due to the scant amount of information on Marxism. That is because the known extent of Marxs works is a
great deal more extensive now than it had been in 1917; thus, much of Marxs thinking had not been known neither to Lenin or Stalin (Scanlan, 1995). For example,
the pre-Soviet and early Soviet commentators had not been aware of the Economic and Philosophic Manuscripts of 1844 and the Grundrisse which are the products of a kinder,
