The eight organisms that are the focus of this paper, i.e. the common mosquito, the common flea, the common sand
dollar, the common starfish, the bald eagle, the northern cardinal, the Florida mouse, and the eastern gorilla are all classified in the Kingdom Animalia because they are eukaryotic and, as
is the case with most animals, multicellular. Another distinguishing feature that separates the animal kingdom from the plant kingdom is that animals digest their food in an internal chamber,
they dont have rigid cell walls, and they are typically able to move about in their environment. Just as each of these animals share many similarities with one another,
however, they are also very unique. This has resulted in them being separated into different classifications within the phylogenetic system.
Insects are considered by some among the animals of lesser importance. Nothing could be further from the truth. Insects impact the world in a variety of ways.
Their impact to mankind has been of particular importance. All insects belong phylogenetically to the class Insecta and the phylum Arthropoda. Within that Phylum there are many
