inclusive and accepting of cultural differences in order to accommodate a more universal view of human behavior, it is nevertheless the case that certain categorizations often seem to innately form in any discussion of behavior, such as "normal" and "abnormal". As such, the existence of mental disorders is one of the ongoing realities of psychology that never seems to change. Based upon culturally determined norms of what behavior or ideological state is normal, some behaviors tend to be decried as abnormal and representing a strong concern to researchers. The development of disorders is one way in which psychology attempts to categorize and cope with aberrant and abnormal behavior. This paper will explore some of the main categories of psychological disorders. This paragraph helps the student give a break-down of the major psychological disorders. To begin with, there is the tripartite division of disorders into somatoform, dissociative, and anxiety-related categories. Somatoform disorders are said to be those disorders which manifest as physical ailments that have no discernible physical cause, and are ultimately attributed to psychological causes (Kovera, 2011). Dissociative disorders, by contrast, are those disorders which cause the individual in question to suffer a total break from reality, totally losing contact with "conscious awareness or memory", a state in which one can often carry on an active life about which one remembers nothing at all (Kovera, 2011). Lastly, anxiety and mood-related disorders are those disorders which are related to "episodic emotional disturbances" which ultimately negatively impact ones life in some direct manner (Kovera, 2011). Within each of these categories of disorder, certain specific disorders seem to manifest. For instance, in somatoform disorders, one of the most common specific disorders to manifest is hypochondriasis (Kovera, 2011).
