For example, the candidate has a professional background in the corporate world which
has given her considerable insight into the way in which individuals interact with the organisational structure, and with one another. She is aware that Corporate America separates ones personal and
professional life and therefore any problems experienced in the one are not permitted to affect the other. She sees this as having a negative impact both on professional competence and
personal interactions: if individuals are unable to communicate freely and openly with one another, this will contribute further to stress in the work environment. If one considers this from the
standpoint of both individual well-being and corporate productivity, it is clear that such stress will not be beneficial at any level: it is very much in the interests of organisations
and institutions to safeguard the welfare of their members.
Ms X is also particularly interested in womens self development within the industrial environment, especially as there are a number of factors which specifically affect womens capacity to realise
their professional potential. Despite extensive legislation in the latter part of the twentieth century, it is evident that there is still a significant level of gender bias in the workplace,
