Kafka, begins. A few lines into the work and it becomes apparent that Joseph K. is at the mercy of an irrational legal system, whom he cannot communicate with, and
whose arbitrary ways doom him to a half-life. The inadequacy of the justice system is not a new theme. In fact, both Kafkas, The Trial, and Camus work, The Stranger
(Letranger) both take on and expose the court systems for what they are in the modern day and age. Between both stories one is able to contrast and compare their
ideas on the sordid affairs of the court and what it means for the fate of humankind. KAFKAS The Trial In short,
what seemed to be at stake in this story was the ability for Joseph K. to come to terms with the illusion of justice, of an ordered and rational system,
with the reality of the system that actually exists. What is most striking is the judges determination to legitimize every action that is taken by stating that everything is based
on a rational and predictable outcome. However, as anyone knows, subjectivity can and does come into play in a courtroom. To assume otherwise is as irrational as the rest.
The action of the story centers around the accumulating troubles of a bank clerk named, Joseph K. He is, in effect, an everyman. He seeks justice from the corrupt and
