Lastly, Mozart was a genius because like no other after him, he was able to bring a breathless quality of pure playfulness and depth of soul, that has yet to be duplicated in its entirety. To that end, his opera, Don Giovanni, while providing lush melodies and harmonies, also speaks about the clash of class conflict and the impending age of enlightenment. Amadeus wrote as a court musician for many years initially, writing several opera seria, the most notable, perhaps is his La clemenza di Tito, which he wrote for King Leopold. However, even working under the restrictions imposed on him by aristocratic whims, he managed to begin what would be a lifelong pursuit of pushing the musical envelope. One difference between Mozart and perhaps those composers of his day, was that he did not particularly care for the librettos that rhymed, or were overly superfluous or prose-like. It is clear to see that he believe that the text should fit the music, not the other way around. His opera, La Nozza de Figaro, while following the parameters of the comic opera, began to introduce moral dilemmas psychological angst, and beyond what any composer of the day did, he wrote music which depicted and underwrote the mindset and characterization of the players on stage.
