Of course, this is a rather dismal view of human nature. Truthfully, not all of the elite are cruel or that competitive. In any event, education is something that at least in certain countries is seen almost as a right. In the United States for example, education is applauded and guaranteed for all children in all states and this is true regardless of income and social standing. Yet, the truth is that while children are given an education, not all education is the same, a point made by the infamous Brown v. Board of Education trial. Similar situations exist throughout the world. There are class divides everywhere. In Brazil, there are decided differences in education and there are more problems overall. Proenca & Neneve (2004) report that historically, Brazilian policies have ignored the needs of particular regions. It seems that there are social disparities in this troubled nation and this occurs not just between Brazil and other countries, but within the country itself (2004). Social indicators in Brazil suggests that there is inequality in various aspects of human life, and this includes areas such as education, health care, employment, and social services (2004). In the southeast, for instance, the people have received a variety of social benefits and have also been able to access resources which are not like those things found in other regions (2004).
