It is important to keep in mind that Egyptian culture and the government and society which went along with that culture has varied greatly over time. This fact too is testified to by Egyptian architecture. Indeed, Egypt is replete with many ancient wonders. Her dry environment has preserved many of her ancient monuments and temples into the present. Features such as the great pyramids of the ancient Egyptian pharaohs and the sphinx, a two-hundred and forty foot long statue with the body of a lion and a head of a man, attract tourists from all over the world and stand as a long lasting gift from ancient Egypt to the modern world. What many fail to realize is that the time period spanned by ancient Egypt and the number of cultures and rulers which played in its history is tremendous.
