There is also some controversy as to whether or not the members of the band actually visited India at all. In some way, the lyrics and musical composition are a bit different than some of the other works they created at the time, but it still is rather similar to other Zeppelin tunes. While a rock band with diverse talents, some of their music became quite popular such as Stairway to Heaven. Kashmir is also very well known and was quite popular during the 1970s. Although a rather good piece of music, it is important to evaluate it in the context of the day and as a piece unto itself. How does it compare with other works to come out during the same period? In order to evaluate the music, some criteria must be set. Did Kashmir win any awards? Did it get a lot of air time? What other bands were as musically accomplished? The evaluation must include the musical range of the vocalists and the skill of the instrumental musicians. The composition of the works as well as the lyrics are of course very important to the analysis. Finally, how has the work fared in the long term? These criteria may be used to evaluate this piece of music that was released during the mid-1970s. Soon after Physical Graffiti was on the market, the entire Led Zeppelin offerings had simultaneously topped the "200 album chart" which is a first in the music business1 .
