Nutrition and Dietetics, has developed over the past 10 years, as I have struggled with personal health issues and recognized the value of health services. I hope to work along side other members of my family in a health profession, providing nutritional and dietetic support. My interest in Loma Linda University began when I started exploring programs in Nutrition and Dietetics. I am currently pursuing my undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Michigan. I returned to school after a 10 year hiatus due to health reasons and realized that my interest in psychology had changed. Though my course of study is interesting, I have found that I want to pursue a career in nutrition and dietetics, and believe that I can better serve my professional and personal goals by pursuing this degree at this time. Anyone applying for a program to support the development of a health profession should focus on both personal and professional goals and recognize the need for professional motivations in the pursuit of this degree. My motivations in pursing an Nutrition and Dietetics degree at Loma Linda University include the following: 1. a desire to expand my knowledge in health care and nutrition; 2. a belief that educational experiences can be invaluable to developing new health strategies and integrating alternative health resources; 3. a belief in my own potential as a nutritional specialist; 4. a need for greater educational opportunities and contacts in the field of nutrition and dietetics. My goals, then, are shaped around these four fundamental motivations.
