focus and from my desire to better understand the correlations among pharmacological interventions, access to services, and improvements in human health. There are many different reasons why a person
chooses a career: financial need, previous education or work experience, and/or based on a philosophical perspective which is enhanced by an understanding of an individuals role in society.
While some of these reasons may overlap, there is generally one significant reason why individuals select one career type over others. My focus on a career as a pharmacist,
then, occurred out of previous education and work experiences, but was largely defined by my philosophical perspective that feeds a motivation to help others. My philosophy in the area
of health services is based on my desire to help other people. Since childhood, I have had a compassionate response to the needs of others and have recognized myself
as a person inherently defined by a caring and compassionate perspective. I chose the profession in pharmacy sciences because it is an occupation where my strengths as a health
care professional can be applied in the workplace setting. At the same time, I also developed the ability to provide a compassionate response to others while maintaining personal distance
through volunteer work in community service programming. Providing a humane and compassionate response to the needs of others while maintaining personal autonomy has been a strength of mine in
volunteer work environments. My professional goals include to expand my career opportunities in order to become a primary pharmacist in the hospital setting. I hope to become
