PART I: IMPACT OF NOMADS ON CIVILIZATIONS Nomads are people who constantly move from place to place rather than settling down in one area. They do this to survive and have to move for many reasons. Perhaps they have over-hunted one area and need to go where wildlife is more abundant. Or perhaps there is going to be a weather change and the nomads want to go where the climate is better. Whatever the reason, Nomads typically do not stay in one area very long. The lifestyle of the nomads versus that of the agriculturalists is obvious - the agriculturalists stay in one place so that they may tend their crops. Also, the agriculturalists normally are in the more verdant and temperate areas that are not so hard on the plants. Nomads typically will avoid these areas although there are times when they have to cross over such areas. The traveling nomad was important in ancient civilization because it was through these travelers that people heard the news, as well as carried new innovative things from other societies and so served to pass ideas along from village to village. Back then this was one of the very few ways to messenger things and get news back and forth. Technically the nomads get along fairly well with each other and with the agriculturalists.
