                                                    "William Carlos Williams was born in Rutherford, New Jersey, in 1883. He began writing poetry while a student at Horace Mann High School,  
                                                
                                                    at which time he made the decision to become both a writer and a doctor" (The Academy of American Poets, 2006). He actually did receive his medical degree at a  
                                                
                                                    university where he also met and became friends with Ezra Pound (The Academy of American Poets, 2006). Pound was a big fan of Williams work and helped to get his  
                                                
                                                    work published (The Academy of American Poets, 2006). And, as time went by Williams generally began to envision his job as a doctor as a profession that would allow him  
                                                
                                                    to continue writing and fund his existence (American Poets, 2006).         Williams published in many magazines and gradually grew into becoming an essayist,  
                                                
                                                    a poet, a playwright, and a novelist (The Academy of American Poets, 2006). As time went on, however, he began to differ in his opinions from Pound and Eliot because  
                                                
                                                    he believed they "were too attached to European culture and traditions" (The Academy of American Poets, 2006). His work, on the other hand, focused on common life and average individuals
