a woman proudly wearing the fur of a raccoon or a lady lavishly sporting her new mink coat, I am thoroughly disgusted and even disappointed in our society. I believe that both the very practice of hunting for furs and their consequential uses are immoral, savage and even worse, insignificant to the financial and sociological survival of the human race (Lazear). Morally, hunting and killing an animal for such revolting uses is murder of the worst kind in almost every society that we base our present-day values on. Even in ancient Greek and Chinese philosophy teachings, one can find analogies and stories to illustrate such clich?s as "Pick on someone your own size" or "The punishment should fit the crime". It is almost ironic and in fact very hypocritical that we allow fur hunting to go on with so little and such meaningless intervention. Realistically, hunters are simply seeking and murdering harmless animals who are incapable of properly defending themselves against a firearm. Technically, if we magnify this as a trait of our human race, we have not advanced at all beyond the point of savages (Roonsteir, Pp 37-39). The very idea of the use of furs as clothing dates back thousands of years to just around the caveman era. As we deserted cave hibernation and evolved into less hairy beings without fur of our own, life became temporarily difficult. In colder regions of the planet, people could not survive outside with little or no clothing. As a matter of instinctive survival, these less-mentally-developed humans in a ess-technically-developed society, slaughtered animals to use their skin and furs for warmth.
