there has been no real proof it seems that anyone has used or plans to use any weapons of mass destruction. And, in pursuit of some weapons of mass destruction in Iraq it seems that nothing was ever found. At the same time the United States and many other nations around the world blatantly possess many different weapons of mass destruction such as nuclear bombs and chemical weaponry. Such information makes one wonder if weapons of mass destruction are really an issue in the war on terrorism, if they are really a powerful and urgent threat that could come to light any moment. The following paper examines the problems of weapons of mass destruction and where they may lie in a list that would rank important threats concerning terrorism today. Weapons of Mass Destruction The most important, or noted, nation that is in the media today and is considered a concern as it relates to terrorism is Iraq. In relationship to what they possess and what they do not possess one author notes, "Current capabilities are uncertain, due to Iraqs efforts since 1991 to retain and conceal prohibited nuclear, biological, chemical (NBC), and missile assets, and due to its expulsion of UNSCOM inspectors in 1998" (Center for Nonproliferation Studies, 2007). One must perhaps also look at the fact that the United States has been at war in Iraq for several years now and there has been no terrorist attack on the United States coming from Iraq. In addition, considering there has been no attack, there has clearly been no attack involving weapons of mass destruction.
