Erie, Pennsylvania is a small accounting firm managing the financial affairs of several small business clients in the local area. The firm is one that had been founded on
manual systems; it has adopted a few basic DOS and Windows(tm) 1 bookkeeping and tax programs. The firms computer usage does not incorporate any integrated and full-spectrum software that
can address all its clients needs, regardless of how simple or how complex those needs might be. We will be introducing to the
firm the accounting software products of Peachtree, and all the firms existing hardware must be upgraded in order to accommodate the needs of the software program. The software is
not particularly demanding in its own requirements, but the data that could be generated through management of the financial records of several businesses dictates that any hardware chosen should have
far more storage capability than the client will believe it requires. In addition to on-site hardware intended for daily use, the system upgrade for the firm must include remote
storage as disaster recovery so that the firms clients can be fully assured of the safety of their information should disaster befall the physical offices of their accounting firm.
Peachtree itself requires only 486-level capability and Windows 3.1 or Windows 95. However, the data generated by an accounting firm and the accounting
requirements of each specific client indicate selection of equipment of far greater capability than that required by the software alone. Windows 3.1 is dated and quickly becoming obsolete with
the latest generation of Pentium computers; Windows 95 is incapable of dealing with large hard drives without requiring annoying partitioning of those drives. However, Windows 98 is capable of
