life. What may not necessary come to mind, however, is how the soldiers get those uniforms, those weapons, or even the food they eat. What makes it happen is the
U.S. Army Material Command, or AMC. Headquartered in Alexandria, VA, the AMC relies on 62 installations in 42 states and throughout the world to get product from the manufacturer, to
the warehouse, and then to the various bases and the men and women who are there. However, when it comes to logistics,
supplies are typically delivered via logistic vehicles, fleets of basic Army jeeps that are adapted to carry supplies (Kemp and Biass, 2007). These days, the jeeps are outfitted with more
robust shells - especially in Iraq and Afghanistan, which has sustained supply losses due to poor outfitting (Kemp and Biass, 2007).
Much of the logistics is under control of the Army Materiel Command, which has as its mission to support the soldiers from the time they arrive ate basic training until
they retire from the military (Griffin, 2007). Basically, if a soldier wears it, eats it, or fights with it, AMC has had a role in getting it from point A
to point B (Griffin, 2007). Things have changed during the past decade at the AMC, however - there was a time during
which production levels and recruitment could be planned years in advance (Griffin, 2007). But the global war on terror changed all of that - meaning the AMC was required to
