written more for children than adults. It is the story of two brothers and the many adventures they encounter. The following paper gives a summary of the book, discusses the
characters, and then looks at the different types of conflicts within the novel. The Thief Lord This is a story about two brothers who are running away. Their
parents have died and their aunt wants to adopt the young 5 year old Bo, but not the older brother, Prosper who is 12. The older brother wants to run
away before they are separated and although Bo does not want to go, he does not want his brother to leave him so he follows him to Venice. This is
a city that their mother always talked about and so they think it would be a good place to go. When they get to Venice they hook up with a
street kid named Hornet. They also meet other boys who live on their own. They all live in an old movie theater and they seem to worship one boy, Scipio,
who is the Thief Lord. He is called the Thief Lord because he is really good at stealing jewels from the rich homes. He is not a bad guy though.
He steals so that he can make sure the boys get enough to eat and get clothes. At one point in the story there is a pawn shop owner
who asks Scipio to do him a favor, to steal something for one of the pawn dealers wealthy customers. Scipio is asked to steal a very special wooden wing, a
broken wooden wing, which goes to a merry-go-round. This merry-go-round is old and is magic. This part of the story is when all the adventures truly begin. As for the
