others may live in squalor. Hence, a trip to the local Pancake House may be perceived as an exciting excursion where quality food is served if the person is not
used to eating well. However, it can be a very distasteful feast to a wealthy individual with a sophisticated palette. While quality is relative, and sometimes is related to the
eye of the beholder, it is also something that may be considered static. There are guidelines and standards for quality, which permeate these boundaries that might hinder an objective view
of things. Also, quality is an issue in areas beyond food and drink, and ordinary things. Quality is a consideration that is related to every aspect of daily life. How
important is quality? Quality has always been important in the scheme of things. Businesses pride themselves on running a clean shop, and they work toward quality. Industries vary in respect
to what is considered good quality. Quality in manufacturing goes to safety and compliance with regulation. Manufacturing is not found in a creative, flexible environment. Therefore, quality will be specific.
For example, how many widgets can be made in a set amount of time without waste being a part of the end product? How many cars can be built in
a week? Service industries, on the other hand, are qualitatively different. Quality there has to do with the outcome. If the customer feels good, provides compliments to the staff
and gives good tips, and the establishment has a good reputation, one can bet that quality is stellar. Of course, some service industries also have to pay attention to less
flexible features. A limousine service wants friendly drivers and so quality will be found in human resources, but they want to provide clean, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing vehicles as well.
