the context of an early admissions program (1998). It was in 1947 that Martin decided to become a minister and delivered his first sermon in his fathers church (1998). At the young age of nineteen, Dr. King received his degree in Sociology and began his stint in Seminary (1998) . He would graduate in 1951 with a BD degree (1998). Two years after that achievement, Martin would marry Coretta Scott (1998). In 1954, Dr. King was named pastor of a church in Montgomery (1998). Martin was not finished with his education. He would go on to receive a doctorate degree from Boston University in 1955 (Sylvester, 1998). In that same year his wife would give birth to their first child, a daughter named Yolanda (1998). It was during the 1950s that things started heating up on the race relations front. Again, 1955 was a significant year in the life of Dr. King. He received his degree and had his first child. In that same year, the infamous Rosa Parks incident would occur. The 42 year old seamstress would not give up her seat on the bus and soon afterwards, Dr. King would become involved (1998). It was then that the Montgomery Improvement Association was formed and Dr. King was deemed president (1998). It was on that same day that the well known boycott began, and some have seen this as a catalytic event that started Martin on the road to civil rights activism (1998). One year later, in 1956, Martin Luther Kings home was bombed and during the same year, African Americans were afforded the right to sit wherever they like (Sylvester, 1998).
