events took place, such as abolition of slavery and building the basis of government which is still the cornerstone of government today in this country. The American Revolution was indeed revolutionary. The reason for this is because it spurred so much intense change. It was revolutionary in the sense of trying to gain freedom for Britain - a very daunting and monumental task to undertake and even more impressive when one considers that the effort was successful. Furthermore, it was revolutionary in terms of the changes which came about in this country as a result of this war. The founding fathers were busy indeed during this era drafting, debating and finally endorsing such documents as the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. These documents have stood the test of time and have come to be regarded as the very foundation upon which the ideology and freedoms of this country rest. In this way, the American Revolution was indeed revolutionary. At no other time in American history has so much change occurred and so much essential ideology been created. Over the span of less than a generation, the entire structure, government, freedoms, rule, and foundation of this country changed - and changed dramatically. What is so impressive about the American Revolution is the dedication of the colonists to the ideals and beliefs they held so dear. It is through their determination and convictions that we experience the freedoms we do today. What is even more impressive is to consider the odds they were up against.
