But, the truth, especially in the opinions of many historians, is that the Bible was written by people, John in particular, who did not necessarily offer up the real historical teachings of Jesus without the Christian focus. With that in mind the following paper examines the teachings of the historical Jesus, not necessarily the Biblical Jesus. Teachings of the Historical Jesus The historical Jesus, the Jesus that was perhaps not covered in the Bible, is something of an allusive individual from a historical perspective. As such any study of him is perhaps very controversial and subjective. From the Christian perspective one could perhaps argue that the teachings of the historical and the simple Jesus were "God Loves You, Love One Another (see commands), Immense Value of Each Person, Good News: the Kingdom of God has Come to Earth, Reality of Judgment to Heaven or Hell" and "God Forgives You, If You Ask" (Jesus Institute, 2006). But, realistically, from a solid historical perspective, the teachings of Jesus are far more complex and diverse. In all honesty, "Most Biblical scholars, historians, archeologist and even the clergy are knowledgeable about one fact of Christianity that the Christian worshipper is not, there is limited historical facts to establish finite historical evidence that Jesus Christ existed" (Martin, 1995). It is noted that the New Testament, the one work that seems to tell of his life, was not necessarily concerned with the historical Jesus as much as it was with the religion and religious teachings. There was one historian of the time, however, Jewish historian Flavius Josephus, who was a historian for Emperor Vespasian, who did make mention of Jesus. ...
