It is the element of the story, or how it is told that we will use to examine each of these historic art pieces. The Style of the Baroque Period The Baroque period was a dynamic and expressive style that dominated Europe from about 1600 to 1750. The term was used not only to describe painting, sculpture and architecture of the period, but music and literature as well. It occurred as a rejection of balance of Renaissance Classicism and the uncertainty of Mannerism or Neo-Classicism. Much of the Baroque style in the visual arts was shaped by Tintoretto (1518-1594) and Veronese (1528-1588). Both were interested in the depiction of texture, atmosphere and color. They were always concerned with the senses, with the particular look, feel and shape of things, both divine and mundane (Cole 155). Look at the clothing of this particular period, frills, laces, velvets and silks.
