were one of a kind, to some extent, they were also very different in the fact that one was the first of his kind in the entire universe and the other was a leader of many men. Their similarities and differences, however, can often be seen when examining their strengths and their weaknesses. Bearing that in mind the following paper first presents a general overview concerning the background of the two men, and then goes on to discuss their strengths and weaknesses. In doing so we illustrate that it is perhaps in the nature of man to be both weak and strong and although both Gilgamesh and Adam were from the distant past, they stand to represent the nature of men. Background on the Men As mentioned, both men are somewhat unique in their own positions. Adam is considered to be the very first man ever created. He had a life ahead of him that could have proven to be incredibly simple and glorious. With Gilgamesh we have a man who was a leader of many, a strong man who feared nothing and who stood in his arrogance as a powerful image. Adams story comes to us from the Book of Genesis in the Bible. He was created by God, given free will and essentially left to tend to all that God had created. God later created a woman for him, which many believe led to Adams demise. Adam followed the lead of Eve and the two were banished forever from Paradise, leaving the race of man to suffer and struggle, never achieving the connection with God that could have been the right of all men.
