will argue that a mothers place is in the home as her job is to raise children and when having a career this cannot be sufficiently achieved. Others argue that it is imperative that mothers work as well because it not only sets a good example for the children but also raises the social position of women in our nation today. With that in mind the following paper compares the contributions of working mothers and stay at home mothers, and essentially argues that both are equally necessary to help our society grow and evolve. Discussion The stay at home mother has often been seen as the best possible mother for a family. She is there doing little else but meeting the needs of the children. They provide the child with stability and safety and also appear to be very involved in everything the child does, such as joining the PTA and making sure the children are fed well and on time. This is the vision of the stay at home mother and it is often seen by society as the best possible environment for growing children. The working or career mother is a mother who either puts her children in day care while she works, or she works predominantly while the child or children are in school. Though they are not there all the time with their children they are mothers who generally understand the need for quality time which means that they switch gears when home and become the mother that is a stay at home mother. Their position in the social world, though often argued as one that is not as positive for the child, is a position that teaches the child about real life, and the responsibilities that come with real life.
