Dicks great uncle happens to be Al Cohn, who raised Dicks father, Gene, alongside his natural son Roy (Pooley 24). What is interesting about this anecdote is that the
little boy named Roy who was raised in New York with Dick Morriss father grew up to be the notorious lawyer Roy Cohn. Cohn has been described as a
hated right-wing power broker (24). Others have called him "the devils advocate" ("Law" 55). In contemplating the biography of this well known, but often despised man,
what can one say about the contributions he has made to the United States? In delving into his past, one can see that this attorney did contribute to the legal
system in the United States. Roy Marcus Cohn was born in 1927 and was actually admitted to the New York state bar at the tender age of twenty-one ("Cohn" PG).
His first job was that of assistant U.S. attorney for subversive activities and soon thereafter he became special assistant to the U.S. attorney general (PG). He was called
both "brilliant and arrogant" and some dubbed him the "boy wonder" (PG). He performed well during the Julius and Ethel Rosenberg spy trial (PG). In fact, that is one of
the things that he had achieved fame for. His right wing related activity did not stop there. Cohn was also chief counsel to Senator Joseph McCarthy during the cold
war ("Cohn" PG). Between 1953 and 1954 he was on the U.S. Senate permanent investigations subcommittee (PG). His stint was quite controversial. It helps to keep in mind that
