this film is disturbing and, worse yet, realistic - at least of psychiatric facility practices in past decades. This is a movie, or novel, which cannot help but make
an impression upon the viewer/reader and what makes this particularly disturbing is that because it deals with psychological issues, there is no way to ascertain the "truth", a supposition which
the audience of this story cannot help but realize is a staggering possibility and one which would be horrendous if such a thing happened. The truth of the matter however,
is that such a thing did in fact happen to many people in the 1960s and 1970s. The story focuses on lobotomizing a patient and the harsh realities associated
with that medical practice. What becomes even more frightening with this story is the fact that the "patient" never needed the procedure in the first place. The
basis of this story is potent, and provides much information and insight into a topic which is rarely discussed in our society. How valiant and effort on the part
of this author to expose a medical horror which is inflicted upon the most defenseless among us. How valiant to expose this medical horror which is only akin to
butchering and can only be likened to that which was utilized to produce Frankenstein. Therefore, the benefit of analyzing this film and its basis in truth lies in
the potential to rewrite the future. Although such practices occur much less frequently in todays psychiatric practice, the truth is this abhorrent procedure has merely been replaced with other
