give instructions. This paper can be defined as a "directional" process essay; that is, it gives directions (The process essay). It takes a step-by-step approach and assumes that the person
reading the essay has no knowledge of the subject. The essay, then, is a series of instructions on how to find a job. Discussion There are a number of simple
assumptions involved; first, that the person looking for the job is looking only at things that interest him and which he is qualified to do. That is, someone with a
degree in electrical engineering is not going to hunt for a job as a chef; and an English major isnt going to try and work as a chemist. The job
hunter is looking in his field. First, hell make sure that his skills are up-to-date with regard to the marketplace. As a simple example, a person looking for work as
a typist will need to know computers; someone who uses a typewriter only is now unemployable. So the person will know the state of the field, and will either be
current, or in the process of updating his skills. Second, hell do research to find out what the companies in his field are doing, and narrow his search to those
that really interest him. There are a great many companies that do the same thing, but each one is different, and the job seeker will do himself a great service
if he considers only those that he feels are doing the type of work hes really interested in. Once he has chosen those companies, its time to do some homework.
