The following paper argues against Winfried Kurths argument that Princess Diana was killed by public opinion as seen in the article Trans-National Fantasies Immediately Before Princess Dianas Death. Princess Dianas Death In this particular article the author begins with the thought that perhaps such assumptions are absurd, that Princess Diana had to die for some socially cosmic reason, that she was destined to die, perhaps as a sacrifice, for the public. But, then the author goes into detailed analysis about photos and articles and information in the media just prior to her death. The author makes a connection between the media and the death of Princess Diana, even stating that towards the end of her life she had claimed that she felt "being on the same wavelength with the people" was essential for her and that she accepted - reluctantly - her role as a victim of the press" (Kurth, 1998). While Princess Diana may have felt she was a victim of the press, which she surely was in terms of the media, so are many people in the world. President Bush is surely a victim of the press, and perhaps rightly so. But, the press and his media representation has not altered his life in terms of putting and end to his life. The President of Iran is surely the victim of the press and he is not in danger from that public or collective thought.
