But when it comes to organic fruits and vegetables in the supermarket, these tend to be higher priced than those not grow organically. In this regard, shopper justifiably ask if the higher price of these fruits and vegetables is worth it. But what is organic? Why are these foods priced so high? And why they becoming more and more popular? In this paper, we will review some of the literature about organic foods that has been written during the past decade or so, right around the time that the organic boom has taken place. We will define the concept of organic foods, we will discuss if they are truly organic and pesticide-free, will discuss the growing popularity of these foods, and then pull it all together.
