of terms for each potential classification shows the ability to expand on existing classifications. The concepts integrated into the classification system reflect a concern for concept orientation. The
NOC relates specific concepts, for example the concept of Abuse Recovery, and then provides modifications of each type of recovery. The general concept of abuse recovery is consistent throughout,
but the specific types of abuse (mental, physical, financial) are defined separately. There are classifications, though, that are non-specific and that are open to trends and specific changes in
protocols, suggesting that there may be variations that bring into question concept performance. For example, classification 2007 Comfortable Death is defined as "physical and psychological ease with the impending
end of life." This classification, though, may have had significantly different implications when developed. Modern legislation, including end-of-life protocols, do-not-resuscitate orders, and "death with dignity" laws may alter
the concept of this classification in relation to nursing process. A few of the classifications lack clear semantics. For example, 0002 Energy Conservation is a term that
is commonly utilized in other discourse in relation to the management of energy resources not related to human physical function. The introduction of this concept is confusing and even
the definition does not adequately redefine the concept of energy in order to clarify. The NOC does not appear to put into place a structural focus that
