There are many influences in the way the ethical decisions and strategies are adopted, there may be a reactive approach adopted, where there is little attention paid to ethical consideration. Others may have a more proactive approach, believing that business; instead of following others leads should set an example. The approach will often depend upon the values of the leadership of the company as well as the demands of the market place. There are many approaches a business can take, in order to look at this the different ethical approaches can be considered as frameworks and the way in which these can be applied and utilised to guide a business may be examined. 2. Ethical Approaches. Ethics is defined as "that branch of philosophy dealing with values relating to human conduct, with respect to the rightness and wrongness of certain actions and to the goodness and badness of the motives and ends of such actions" (Dictinary.com, 2007). However determining what is right and wrong is not always easy. If we look to Aristotle, Socrates and Plato there is an agreement that it is the good of the many that is important, therefore where laws are not in the interests of the greater good then they are compromised. For a more modern perspective on ethics we can look at Kant and Mills. The perspectives of these two men are very different.
