1984). These safety requirements were initially initiated on 28 June 1977 and are known as MIL-STD-882A; they were then modified by the Department of Defense on 30 March 1984 as
MIL-STD-882B, which supercedes MIL-STD-882A (Department of Defense, 1984). The Department of Defense (Diet) notes that the "objective of a system safety program within the Department of Defense (Diet) is to
make sure safety, consistent with mission requirements, is designed into systems, subsystems, and facilities, and their interfaces" (Department of Defense, 1984). The Society of Automotive Engineers notes that the document
