DATA COLLECTION For the purpose of this sample paper for the student and per the students request, this project will focus closely on bi-lingualism and the social and communicative context
in which it can be used. The data collection for this particular project was prepared using conversations from a radio disc jockey who is bi-lingual, speaking both Spanish and English
to his mostly Hispanic listeners. The sample, from San Antonio Texas, is an excellent sample of the use of two languages, switching from one language to another so that
one might think it is actually a third language. This example, called code-switching, is a well-known and interesting phenomena that can be found in areas where there are two
equally predominate languages. The user must so often use one or the other language throughout the day that seemingly without knowing it the speaker will jump between the two
languages to get his or her thoughts across to the listeners. Because the social context of this example takes place among other people who speak the same two languages,
there is no loss of understanding due to the switching back and forth between two languages. For the purpose of this report the student may use the following example or
create one of his or her own: "Buenos dias. The Tejano 107 FM morning team on a double bonus Thursday. Dos oportunidades en el dia de hoy tienes para
