                                                    a young female coming of age in premodern Japan. There are several reasons why this is a good choice. First, a young girl coming of age has several decisions to  
                                                
                                                    be made. Either she will be given to someone to wed, or she will become an outcast, lose face for her family, or become Geisha. The best stories are told  
                                                
                                                    when there is some amount of conflict. Given this, then, a young girl, faced with the knowledge that she will be leaving her home of fourteen years is bound to
