The problem with the truth is that it is subjective, and changes depending on a perspective. The perspective that is taken is may be the perspective of the journalist and their own subjective judgments, even in pieces that are primarily objective, however, it is likely that it will also reflect the perspective of the publication in which the article is published. In looking at two different web sites, www.bbc.co.uk and www.indymedia.org, these different aspects of subjectivism and perspective may be seen. There is an interaction between the style dictated by a site or a publication and the readers, leading to expectations. Any journalist, in wiring a piece needs to consider the audience. Both sites have many factors in common, both aim to serve a global audiences with new articles from around the world. Both serve as a communication point with the ability of users to post to discussion boards regarding the news, both have a wide and varied content and attract attention to main stories on the main page and then allow more in-depth reading by links provided. Looking first at the front page of the Independent Media Centre the name suggests that it is not going to be biased and seeks to give its own account that is not influenced by others. In looking at the site the initial impression is that of non conformism with the use of black backgrounds, controversial pictures with white and orange writing.
