An 18 page research paper that analyses the work of historian Jerry M Williams on the writing of Pedro de Peralta Barneuvo (1665-1743), a prolific Peruvian writer from the pre-enlightenment period. Williams argues that the traditional stance towards Peralta's writing does not accord it the significance that it deserves, and cites the political satire in "Dialogo de los muertos: la causa academica" to support this view. The writer agrees with his basic premise, but argues that the follow up volume that Williams compiled on Peralta's work shows that Peralta's conservative philosophy remained consistent in all of his public work.
