offers a very unique and mesmerizingly true look at who Jesus was, and why perhaps God sent Jesus in the form he did. It is a book that puts aside the mystical and magical Jesus in favor of a Jesus who was a man. In the following paper we examine various perspectives of Miles book, providing an overview and review at the same time. Why Write the Book? In all honesty it appears that Miles wrote this book to present us with a real individual in Christ, not a messiah perse. His work is intended to look at Jesus from a human perspective, not from a perspective that merely takes the word often Bible at face value. It seems that he wants to make Jesus a real person in many ways. One author asks, "Why do millions of people the world over worship a God who was executed as a common criminal? Why do they venerate this unexpected, provoking and not particularly appealing character?" (Welsh, 2002; book.asp). Welsh (2002) states that this is the purpose of Miles as he sets out to understand the man who was Jesus. The Audience It seems unlikely that the book is actually directed at those people who do not ever question who or what Jesus was. For those who are incredibly devout and believe every word of the Bible, and believe everything they have been taught regarding Christ and God it seems unlikely that these people would actually get what it is that Miles is doing. These people would perhaps find his book sacrilegious. The book seems to be focused at those who are curious and who enjoy a good dissection of people we often take for granted.
